All Aboard - For the last time.

Many of us will never vote for Ken again after he needlessly destroyed that key London icon and, excellent all round means of transport the Routemaster. The one remaining route with Routemasters, is the 159 running from Marble Arch to Streatham Garage this too will “changeover” on December 9th 2005.

Update 2012: Well Ken lost the Mayoral election and Boris promises to introduce a new hybrid Routemaster. The old red ones did not disappear completely but can be seen on a couple of heritage routes in central London.

Rockist

If its Rockist to want to sit in comfort and be able to admire panoramic views of London on a bus specifically designed for the capital’s network of narrow and twisting roads rather than be standing with one’s face pressed against another passenger’s armpit on a bendy bus designed for European cities with nice straight roads then put the Quo on now….

A sad day indeed. I have fond memories of riding the 159 from Lambeth Walk to the West end though its probably just as fast to walk it over Westminster Bridge and along the river. Bring back the handsome cab!

The Bendy Bus is OK for the first couple of trips; one almost feels quite European then you start to realise its shortcomings. Doubt many will have fond memories of the bendy in years to come.
